Ensure account settings are updated
  • Keep contact details up-to-date so that you receive timely notifications whenever transactions are made.
  • Use only your personal bank account for withdrawals from your CPF savings.
  • Keep your daily withdrawal limit low.
  • Activate the CPF Withdrawal Lock to disable online CPF withdrawals if not withdrawing soon.

How to identify legitimate CPF communications

Beware of scammers impersonating CPF Board. We will never ask you to transfer your money or provide sensitive personal information. Look out for these details.

Receiving call from CPF hotline on mobile phone

Calls
  • Calls will only be made from 6227 1188.
  • CPF Board will never call with WhatsApp.

Reading SMS from gov.sg on mobile phone

Messages
  • SMS messages are always from “gov.sg”.
  • CPF Board will contact you on WhatsApp with the following accounts verified with a blue tick:
    • CPF Board Text Us using 6031 5753.
    • CPF Board, WhatsApp channel.

Emails will always end with @cpf.gov.sg or @e.cpf.gov.sg.

If in doubt

Call the 24/7 ScamShield helpline 1799 to check if it is a scam.

Remember, CPF Board officers will NEVER:

  • Call using automated voice recording systems,
  • Ask you to transfer money,
  • Ask for your bank log-in details,
  • Ask you to install mobile apps from unofficial app stores, or
  • Transfer your call to the police.

Beware of common scam signs
Impersonation scams

Beware of scammers who:

  • Pretend to be CPF or other Government officials.
  • Claim that your Singpass was used for committing crimes (e.g. buying a SIM card) and you are under investigation for money laundering.
  • Pressure you to share personal information or hand over valuables such as cash, gold bars and jewellery for investigation.

Investment scams

Avoid advertisements where:

  • Investment opportunities are too good to be true, promising risk-free high returns.
  • Well-known personalities or Government officials make endorsements.
  • You’re pressured to transfer money immediately or miss the opportunity.

Tell-tale signs of scam

Look out for messages that:

  • Come from sources you do not recognise.
  • Prompt you to click unknown links or download files or apps on your devices.
  • Request to control your device by screen-sharing.

Report a scam
Suspect you've been a victim of a scam?

Take these actions immediately.

Freeze your accounts

Alert your bank to freeze the affected bank account(s).

 

If you are aged 55 or above, activate CPF Safety Switch to disable access to CPF online services, stop in-progress withdrawals and prevent future disbursements to your registered bank account.

If you think your Singpass has been compromised, reset your Singpass password by contacting the official Singpass 24/7 helpdesk.
