While both measures effectively disable online CPF withdrawals, the CPF Safety Switch also prevents online access to your CPF account and stops all disbursements to your registered bank account from our records.
Hence, we encourage you to only activate the CPF Safety Switch if you suspect you have fallen victim to a scam. Doing so will immediately cease any unintended monetary outflows and prevent informational loss in the event that your Singpass has been compromised.
If you wish to protect yourself against scams and do not need to withdraw immediately, consider activating the CPF Withdrawal Lock instead which will allow you to maintain your online access to your CPF account.
